PilotWings was part of the launch of the SNES. It became an
instant classic in my household back in 92. This game had it all: Memorable
characters, great background music, outstanding graphics, and great
gameplay! This is my brother's favorite game, it could be mines too but I'm
not too great deciding favorites.
Graphics [9/10]:
The game has great graphics for a 16-bit system. It has
bright colors and everything is pretty detailed except for the ground (or
water). I'll let Nintendo get away with the water because water doesn't have
much texture but when you are flying on a course with ground (grass, sand,
snow), it is just flat land with nothing on it. Except for the base. Other
than that the graphics are really great.
Music and Sound [10/10]:
I love the music in this game, and the sound
effects are good. Nuff said...
Game Play [10/10]:
There are plenty of different types of gameplay and there
are all great and get more difficult through each level. Here are the
different types of courses you have to pass:
Light Plane
Skydiving
Rocketbelt
Hang-glider
And the helicopter which is the last level
The game runs smooth and each course has great gamplay, my favorite is
either the light plane or the rocketbelt. I think the hang-glider is the
most difficult.
Challenge & Replay [10/10]:
This game took me and my brother awhile to beat
back then but after we beat it, we still played it often... In fact, we're
still playing it. My brother is actually playing it as of right now (when I
wrote this review)!!! This game is defeintly in my top 10 games of all time.
Conclusion/Overall [10/10]:
This game is a perfect addition to any SNES
library, it's for all ages. I would say this is an SNES classic and anyone
who has an Super Nintendo should really get this game. It really doesn't
matter what kind of games you like, this game has a lot to offer.
If you've played the sequel to this game (PilotWings 64, which was really
fun but doesn't come close to the original) then I have to tell you this is
a whole different game. It is much funner and has a whole lot of more replay
value.
